TripSwipe Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
TripSwipe (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a travel discovery app that helps you swipe through activities
in cities worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it,
and the choices you have. By using TripSwipe on web or mobile, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication identifiers through Firebase Authentication (email/password and/or Google Sign-In).
- Saved activities: Activities you save (swipe right) may be stored on your device and, when signed in, in Firebase Firestore associated with your account.
- Location: Only when you choose “Use my location,” we access approximate or precise location and send it securely to our geocoding service to identify a nearby city. It is processed for that request and is not used for background tracking or continuous monitoring.
- App preferences: Local settings such as selected city, game/streak stats, mute preference, onboarding completion, and a personal invite/referral code stored on your device.
- Referral data: If you open the app from a shared link that includes a referral code, we may store that code locally on your device for attribution.
- Diagnostics: Our hosting and auth providers (for example Vercel and Google/Firebase) may process basic technical logs such as IP address, device/browser type, and request metadata to operate and secure the service.
2. How we use information
- Provide activity recommendations and city search
- Authenticate you and sync saved activities across devices when signed in
- Operate gamification features (XP, streaks, levels) on your device
- Support account deletion and customer support requests
- Improve reliability, security, and performance of TripSwipe
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we share information
We share data only with service providers who help us run TripSwipe:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and cloud storage of saved activities
- Viator — activity listings and affiliate booking links
- Mapbox — city search / geocoding when configured
- Vercel — API and website hosting
- Google Play / Apple — if you install from an app store, that store’s policies also apply
Booking and payments for activities are handled by third-party providers when you tap “Book.” Their privacy policies govern those transactions.
4. Data retention
Account and cloud-saved activity data are kept while your account remains active.
Device-local data remains until you clear app data or uninstall.
Server logs held by providers are retained according to their standard retention practices.
5. Your choices & account deletion
- You can remove saved activities in the app at any time.
- You can mute sound, change city, and clear local preferences on your device.
- Delete your account: Open Settings → Delete account while signed in. This deletes your Firebase authentication record and associated saved activity data in our Firebase project (subject to short backup windows of our providers).
- You may also use our account deletion page or email david.eagan@gmail.com to request deletion if you cannot access the app.
6. Children’s privacy
TripSwipe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information,
contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
7. Security
We use reputable providers and industry-standard transport security (HTTPS). No method of
transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong password and protect your device.
8. International users
Our providers may process data in the United States or other countries. By using TripSwipe,
you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will
change when we do. Continued use of TripSwipe after an update means you accept the revised policy.
